Jackie Chan reprises his role as adventurer and treasure hunter Asian Hawk, who is seeking to repatriate twelve bronze heads of the animals of the Chinese zodiac that were looted from the Old Summer Palace in the Second Opium War. During the hunting, he is touched by the patriotism of Coco, the daughter of Professor Guan of Chinese cultural relics, and the students. In the end of the movie, Jackie gives up the money and helps Coco to save national treasure. The bronze heads are found by them and returned back to China.
The movie Chinese Zodiac conveys that we should respect cultural relics and mutual property and go against any stealing or plundering out of personal desire. Meanwhile, it also criticizes the behavior of plundering cultural relics from other nations.
Plot
When the British and French allied forces burned down the Old Summer Palace, a large number of precious cultural relics were lost overseas. Among them, the four zodiac animal heads attracted the most attention, which not only caused widespread debate at home and abroad, but also collectors offered sky-high prices to bid for these treasures. Of course, there are many treacherous cultural relic dealers who try to steal treasures. Taking this opportunity, the international thief JC (played by Jackie Chan) who is on vacation makes a grand appearance.
Behind JC is a super professional team composed of Simon (played by Kwon Sang-woo), David (played by Liao Fan), Bonnie (played by Zhang Lanxin) and others. They went to Paris together to seek the help of Coco (played by Yao Xingtong), an expert in national treasure identification.
