Dezhou 德州, a prefectural city of Shandong province, is approved by The State Council as the transportation hub and economic center of the junction between Hebei and Shandong, an important industrial and trade city in northwest Shandong, and the new energy industry base of Shandong province.
Dezhou is located in east China, the northwest of Shandong and the alluvial plain of the lower Yellow River. Dezhou has been known as the “nine-to-heaven thoroughfare” 九达天衢and “Shenjing Gateway”神京门户 since ancient times. It is an important transportation hub in China. Historically, Dezhou was an important port on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and a key point for cultural exchanges and transportation between the North and the South. Dezhou was an important transport channel for nine southern provinces (Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi) to Beijing. Dezhou is also the intersection of beijing-Shanghai Railway, Shide Railway, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Shiji passenger dedicated line and Delongyan Railway.
