
Guo Zhen generally refers to Guo Yuanzhen. Guo Yuanzhen (656-713 AD), also known as Zhen and styled Zhen, was born in Guixiang, Weizhou (now Daming County, Handan City, Hebei Province). He was a famous general and prime minister of the Tang Dynasty. Guo Yuanzhen passed the imperial examination and was appointed as the magistrate of Tongquan County. Later, he was praised by Empress Wu Zetian and appointed as the commander of the Right Guard Army under the Cao family. He also offered strategies to sow discord, which led to internal strife in Tubo. Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty preached martial arts on Mount Li. Guo Yuanzhen was exiled to Xinzhou for the crime of military misconduct. Later, on his way to serve as the Sima of Raozhou, he passed away due to depression.
郭震一般指郭元振。郭元振(656年-713年),名震,字元振,以字行,魏州贵乡(今河北省邯郸市大名县)人,唐朝名将、宰相。郭元振进士出身,授通泉县尉,后得到武则天的赞赏,被任命为右武卫铠曹参军,又进献离间计,使得吐蕃发生内乱。唐玄宗骊山讲武,郭元振因军容不整之罪,被流放新州,后在赴任饶州司马途中,抑郁病逝。
