Statham plays an FBI agent determined to take down a mysterious assassin known as Rogue (who is played by Li), after his partner is murdered.
War’s working title was Rogue; it was changed to avoid conflict with another film with the same name. It was re-titled as Rogue Assassin(玩命对战wán mìng duìzhàn)in New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Australia, the Philippines, and several European countries.
Plot
This is a story about revenge. After his partner and his family were brutally murdered, FBI agent Jack Crawford was blinded by hatred and embarked on a road of revenge. He vowed to find the killer whose whereabouts were erratic and whose identity was unknown. He only knew that the killer was named Roger, an Asian… Jack seemed to have forgotten his identity as a policeman and kept a close eye on Roger from the perspective of personal grudges. However, it was extremely difficult to find Roger. It was not until three years later that his reappearance triggered a fierce fight between Chinese gangs and Japanese hooligans, and Jack locked on the target again.

Every time Roger appeared, there was always blood and rain, and Jack, who was determined to catch Roger, infiltrated the world of gangs with his criminal task force. Everything proved that Jack’s move was too hasty. It seemed that the uncontrollable desire for revenge disturbed his professional judgment. Violence continued to increase, and the intervention of the police not only failed to stop the fight between gangs, but also stimulated the escalation of conflicts to a large extent. When Jack finally confronted the enemy he had been pursuing for three years, he found that Roger was not what he had imagined at all, and the strong resentment emanating from Roger also aroused his curiosity.
Professional evaluation
Positive reviews
The characters played by Jet Li and Statham represent respect for life and art, and also purify a poisoned film genre.
Negative reviews
1、Jet Li’s latest Hollywood film is horrible except for a few fight scenes that are slightly watchable. The screenplay is mediocre, the narrative is illogical, and the “surprise” prepared by the director at the end of the film is ultimately tasteless and tasteless! The biggest failure is the waste of Jet Li, who was tortured by the director to only pretend to be cool and superficial.
2、At the end of the movie, the author “explained” why Chang Cheh initially stipulated that David Chiang could only laugh once every ten minutes. This is because if everything was like “Ranger”, we might have one more person stepping on a banana peel, but we would have one less Ah Zun.
3、”Ranger” is just a third-rate movie. Jet Li should not be surprised why the mainland is unwilling to introduce this movie, because it is too ordinary. Even if his performance is very hard, he can’t change the overall low level of the movie. “Ranger” is a bad movie at any time.
4、The fighting scenes are all very well done, but it’s not satisfying. Jason Statham and Jet Li have both worked with Yuan Kui before, and the scenes should be intense when two action stars are together, but the film only shows Jason Statham’s skills in some sections, and Jet Li’s fight with him is only a few minutes at the end of the film, which is not satisfying.
