“White Lotus” is a seven-character quatrain written by Tang Dynasty poet Lu Guimeng. This poem describes the white lotus withering without people noticing with resentment, implying that people who keep themselves clean are always neglected and excluded in the dark feudal society, and can only be buried in obscurity. It shows the self-admiration and lack of recognition of intellectuals in the feudal era.
