This poem describes the author’s feelings when seeing off a friend at Yishui, and uses history to illustrate the present. The first two sentences describe the place where the poet saw off his friend by reciting the past; the last two sentences express the poet’s feelings of nostalgia for the past and sadness for the present. The whole poem has profound meaning and a desolate tone.

此地别燕丹,壮士发冲冠。

Luo Bingwang
The prince here parted with his friend,
Whose anger set his hair on end.
O gone are those heroes of old.
But the river is still as cold.
