My First Visit to the Red Cliff

My First Visit to the Red Cliff

Simple Translation
In the autumn of Renxu, on July 16th, I went boating with my friends under the Red Cliff. The breeze blew in gusts, but the water couldn’t rise. Raise your glass to persuade your partner to drink, and recite the chapter “Get Lean” in “The Bright Moon”. After a while, the bright moon rose from behind the Dongshan Mountain and moved back and forth between Dousu and Niusu. The vast expanse of water vapor traverses the river, and the water light connects the sky. Indulge in a small boat floating like a reed leaf, crossing the vast expanse of the river. The vast and vast expanse of water seems to travel high in the wind, without knowing where to stop. It seems to float and shake as if it is about to leave the world and fly up, turning into a fairy and entering a fairyland.
At this moment, he drank and was very happy, singing to the beat. The song reads, “The laurel wood boat paddles, the fragrant orchid boat paddles, beating the clear waves under the moonlight, rising against the current on the moonlit water surface. My thoughts are distant and vast, overlooking the beauty (monarch), but on the other side of the sky.” There are guests who can play the Dongxiao, accompanied by the rhythm of the song, and the sound of the Dongxiao sobs and sobs: it is like sorrow, like yearning, both like sobbing and like pouring, and the lingering sound reverberates on the river, like a continuous filament. It can make dragons in deep valleys dance for them, and it can make widows on lonely boats weep for them.
“My expression also turned sad, and I straightened my clothes and sat upright,”, “Why is Xiao Sheng so sad?” the guest replied “Isn’t this the poem of Cao Gongmengde? From here, you can see Xiakou from the west and Wuchang from the east. The mountains and rivers are continuous, and within sight, it is a lush and green place. Isn’t this exactly the place where Cao Mengde was besieged by Zhou Yu? When he captured Jingzhou and captured Jiangling, he sailed eastward along the Yangtze River. The warships under his command stretched for thousands of miles from end to end, with flags covering the sky and facing the river Wine, wielding a spear and chanting poetry, was originally a hero in the world, but where is it now? Besides, I am fishing and cutting firewood with you on a small island in the river, using fish and shrimp as partners and elk as friends. We are driving this small boat on the river, raising glasses and toasting each other, like mayflies in the vast world, as small as a grain of corn in the sea. Alas, lamenting that our life is only a brief moment, we cannot help admiring the endless Yangtze River. I want to travel around with the immortal hand in hand, embrace the bright moon and live forever in the world. “Knowing that these ideas cannot be realized in one fell swoop, I have to transform my regret into Xiao Yin and trust it in the desolate autumn wind.”
I asked: “Do you also know this water and the moon? Time passes like this water, but it doesn’t really pass away; time passes like this month, and after all, it doesn’t increase or decrease. It can be seen from the volatile side of things that everything in heaven and earth is constantly changing, even in the blink of an eye; and from the unchanging side of things, everything is eternal to us, so what is there to envy? Moreover, between heaven and earth, everything has its own master Slayers, if not what they should have, cannot seek even a penny. Only the gentle breeze on the river and the bright moon in the mountains become sounds upon hearing them, and when they enter our eyes, they draw their shapes and colors. There will be no one to prohibit them, nor will there be any anxiety to feel them. “This is an inexhaustible treasure bestowed by nature, which you and I can enjoy together.”
The guest smiled happily, washed his glass and drank again. The dishes and fruits have all been eaten, and the cups and plates are in a mess. Everyone slept on the ship, pillowing each other, unaware that the white dawn had already emerged in the east.
