“Caisangzi: How Can I Be Lonely in the Festival of Flowers” is a poem written by Nalan Xingde, a poet in the Qing Dynasty. The first part describes how spring makes people feel lonely and depressed, and how emotions surge, so they sing with emotion and shed tears secretly. The second part describes how the falling leaves in autumn and the blooming flowers in spring urge people to gradually grow old year after year, expressing worldly feelings. Although the whole poem is about spring, the artistic conception is bleak, expressing the feelings that life is impermanent, fleeting, and overwhelmed by the past and the present.
