On a Boat Outside an Eastern Shandong Gate: Two Poems

On a Boat Outside an Eastern Shandong Gate: Two Poems

(1)

Sunset, bright sandy bottom, sky an upside-down, mirrored reflection
Ripples disturb rocks, water moving away, then back again.
Light boat seeks the floating moon, turning and rotating on a small river
Mountain shadows appear to hold newly-arrived snow.

(2)

Water coils and twists around the rock levee like a green dragon
Double-layered peach blossoms along the western gate riverbanks.
If one rides in a boat under the moon
Then like a prince, can go to see the sage of Yanxi.

Notes:

Yanxi: Perhaps a town in Hunan Province.
