秋登宣城谢朓北楼
江城[1]如画里，
山晚望晴空。
两水[2]夹明镜[3]，
双桥[4]落彩虹[5]。
人烟寒橘柚，
秋色老梧桐。
谁念北楼上，
临风怀谢公？
本诗作于公元753年秋天。李白在长安为权贵所排挤，弃官而去后，一直过着漂泊不定的生活。当秋风摇落的时节，诗人内心的抑郁和感伤是可以想象的。如诗如画的宣城，一个晴朗的秋天的傍晚，诗人独自登上了谢公楼。一片晴空之中，河水如镜，长桥如虹。橘柚在袅袅炊烟的映衬之下越发苍寒，梧桐在秋色笼罩下也显得越发苍凉。苍凉旷达的意境显现出来，更写出了诗人内心理想无法实现的惆怅、落寞。最后点明怀念谢脁，抒发了对先贤的追慕之情，同时抒发自己理想难以实现的感慨。

On Ascending the North Tower One Autumn Day
The scroll-like River-town’s steeped in twilight,
In view of mountains’neath a lucid sky.
Two rivers,mingling,form a mirror bright;
Two bridges like rainbows fallen from on high.
The cottage smoke has chilled the orange flower;
The autumn hue has oldened parasol trees.
Who ever dreamed I’d come up Northern Tower
To meditate on Xie in western breeze?
This poem was written in the autumn of 753 AD. Li Bai was excluded by the powerful in Chang’an, and after he resigned from his official position, he has been living a wandering life. When the autumn wind blows, the poet’s inner depression and sentimentality can be imagined. In the picturesque Xuancheng, on a clear autumn evening, the poet climbed up the Xiegong Tower alone. In the clear sky, the river is like a mirror and the long bridge is like a rainbow. The orange and pomelo are more cold against the background of the curling smoke, and the sycamore is more desolate under the cover of autumn colors. The desolate and broad-minded artistic conception is revealed, and the poet’s inner melancholy and loneliness that his ideals cannot be realized are also written. Finally, it points out that he misses Xie Zhen, expresses his admiration for the sages, and at the same time expresses his feelings that his ideals are difficult to realize.
