Bamboo Branch Song[1]
Zhang Yu
Before the lake’s the little cottage where I stay.
Will you please come, when you have leisure, to take tea?
My house is built of thatched roof and walls of clay;
In front of my door stands a blooming redbud tree.
注释:
[1]This is the imitation of a song composed by a southern lass for a young man she loved.
“Huzhou Zhuzhici” is a seven-character quatrain written by Yuan Dynasty poet Zhang Yu. This is a love poem. It can also be seen as a love letter. The first sentence is the girl’s self-introduction, the second sentence is an invitation to her lover, and drinking tea also implies being hired. The second half is an introduction to her family. The bauhinia flower is not only a unique symbol, but also symbolizes the beauty of the girl and the harmony of the family. The whole poem is elegant, natural, fresh and lively, showing the girl’s gentleness, thoughtfulness, intelligence and bold pursuit of love.
