归舟

汀州[1]春草遍，
风雨独归时。
大舸[2]中流下，
青山两岸移。
鸦啼木郎庙，
人祭水神祠[3]。
波浪争掀舞，
艰难久自知。

On River Gan[1]
Jie Xisi
The islets with green grass o’erspread;
In wind and rain homeward I speed.
My ship in mid-stream sails ahead;
Blue mountains on both sides recede.
O’er Wood God’s Temple crows raise cries;
To River God sacrifice’s made.
The waves vie in dance, fall and rise;
O how much hardship we have paid!
注释：
[1]The poet sailed from Ji’an to Fengcheng in 1320 after having suffered much in life.
“Returning Boat” is a five-character regulated verse written by the Yuan Dynasty poet Jie Xisi. The first couplet describes the poet’s return home alone in the wind and rain as spring returns to the earth; the second couplet describes the speed of the boat, which is going downstream; the third couplet describes the scenery and cultural customs on both sides of the river; the last couplet describes the ups and downs of the waves on the water and the difficulty of the journey; the difficulty of traveling in nature also expresses the difficulty of the world and the dangers of the officialdom; this poem expresses the poet’s feelings on the way home. The whole poem is smooth and harmonious, and it is natural and complete.
