Song of a Northern Beauty
Sa Dula
The northern beauty is sixteen,
With rosy face and eyebrows green.
The road is fragrant with her steed;
Short whip in hand, she rides with speed.
In vernal breeze vernal heart swings;
In candle-lit hall no lute sings.
Her broidered quilt can’t warm her dreams;
’Neath misty sky no curtain gleams.
Years pass like water, who would care?
She is too tired to comb her hair.
Last night the streets were wet with rain;
The willow down[1] can’t waft again.
注释:
[1]The willow down symbolizes the northern beauty.
