十丈黄尘千尺雪,

可知俱[5]不似江南!

Stopped by Snow on My Northward Way[1]

Wu Weiye

Hard is the way along mighty mountains and streams;

I have just mounted my horse and dismount it now.

Yellow sand rises high and fathomless snow seems.

How can this be compared with Southern shore! O how!

注释:

[1]The poet was forced to leave his homeland in the South for the court in the North.

“Snow Blocking” is a seven-character quatrain written by Wu Weiye, a poet in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.
“Snow Blocking” was written in 1653 when the author was summoned by the Qing court and encountered heavy snow in Linqing (now in Shandong) in the north.
