Li Bai (701–762), also known as Li Po, was a Chinese poet living during the Tang Dynasty.
越女词
（五首其三）
耶溪[1]采莲女，
见客棹歌[2]回。
笑入荷花去，
佯羞不出来。
这首诗写的是天真娇羞的采莲姑娘的形象。采莲女水中采莲，忽闻有客乘舟而来，赶紧掉转方向，躲进密密麻麻的荷丛之后，仿佛是因为怕羞而不敢见客一般。诗的题材和语言受南朝民歌影响，清新自然，返璞归真，令人神驰遐想。

A maiden gathers lotus in the creek,
Singing,she turns round,seeing passers-by.
Smiling,she hides’mid lotus blooms her cheek
And won’t appear again:she seems so shy.
This poem describes the image of a naive and shy lotus-picking girl. The girl was picking lotus in the water, and suddenly heard a guest coming in a boat. She quickly turned around and hid behind the dense lotus bushes, as if she was too shy to see the guest. The theme and language of the poem were influenced by the folk songs of the Southern Dynasties. It is fresh and natural, returning to nature, and makes people imagine.
