Bian Gong Poem: For a Home-going Friend –
For a Home-going Friend Bian Gong The moon o'er River Han shines on home-coming one, Who goes for miles in autumn breeze like wafting leaf. Wash not your journey dress when your journey is done! It bears the capital's dust and our parting grief. "Re-presenting Wu Guobin" is a seven-character quatrain written by Ming Dynasty writer Bian Gong. The first two lines of the poem describe the poet's friend's journey back south by boat, which is extremely humiliating; the last two lines describe the poet's feelings, which are implicit and sincere. The whole poem is euphemistic in meaning, and although it is short in length, the friendship is long.
