Wang Yung: The River Song ~ 《江皋曲》 王融 with English Translations
Wang Rong (466-493), courtesy name Yuanchang, was a native of Linyi, Langya (now Linyi, Shandong). He was a writer of the Southern Qi Dynasty, the sixth-generation grandson of Wang Dao, the prime minister of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and the son of Wang Daoyan, the internal historian of Luling in the Liu Song Dynasty. He was extremely intelligent, well-versed in ancient books, and had great literary talent. He passed the imperial examination at a young age and entered the court of Xiao Ziliang, the King of Jingling. He was listed as one of the Eight Friends of Jingling and was highly appreciated. He was successively promoted to the position of Prince's Sheren and concurrently served as the Minister of State Affairs, receiving envoys from the Northern Wei Dynasty. He was promoted to the position of Minister of the Secretariat and was granted the title of General Ningshuo.
