Xue Feng: Court Ladies ~ 薛逢·《宫词》 with English Translations
Palace Ci "is a seven character regulated poem created by the Tang Dynasty poet Xue Feng. This palace lament poem describes the scene of the palace concubines eagerly awaiting the arrival of the king from morning till night, expressing their grief and sorrow that they cannot hope for. The first couplet points out the identity of the characters and the main theme of the entire poem, the leading couplet describes the environment in the palace, the neck couplet further describes the deliberate dressing of the palace officials, and the ending couplet describes the official consort glimpsing the lower ranking palace maids cleaning the royal bed in the main hall, but her hopes were dashed.
