Li Po (李白), also Romanized as Li Bai, Li Bo, and Li Pai, was a Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty likely born in 701.

云想衣裳花想容，
春风拂槛[2]露华浓[3]。
若非群玉[4]山头见，
会[5]向瑶台[6]月下逢。
《清平调词》是李白写杨贵妃的名篇。他把杨贵妃和牡丹花合在一起写，写花也是写人。第一句说：见云可以想到美人的衣裳，见花可以想到她的美貌；也可以说是把衣裳想象为云，把美貌想象为花。第二句的春风可以暗喻君王的恩宠，说牡丹花在晶莹的露水中更显得浓艳。接着，第三句把杨贵妃比作群玉山头的仙女，第四句又比作月中瑶台前的嫦娥，这都是从空间上把她比作天仙的。

Her face is seen in flower and her dress in cloud,
A beauty by the rails caressed by vernal breeze.
If not a Fairy Queen from Jade-Green Mountains proud,
She’s Goddess of the Moon in Crystal Hall one sees.

[1]Lady Yang Yuhuan was the favorite concubine of Tang Emperor Xuanzong(reigned 725–768).
“Qingping Diao Ci” is a famous poem written by Li Bai about Yang Guifei. He wrote about Yang Guifei and peony flowers together, and writing about flowers is also writing about people. The first sentence says: Seeing clouds can remind you of the beauty’s clothes, and seeing flowers can remind you of her beauty; it can also be said that clothes are imagined as clouds, and beauty is imagined as flowers. The spring breeze in the second sentence can be a metaphor for the king’s favor, saying that the peony flowers are more gorgeous in the crystal dew. Then, the third sentence compares Yang Guifei to a fairy on the top of the Qunyu Mountain, and the fourth sentence compares her to Chang’e in front of the Yaotai in the moon. These are all comparisons of her to a celestial being from the perspective of space.
