Li Bai is widely recognized as one of the greatest poets in Chinese history.
横江词
（六首其一）
人道横江[1]好，
侬道[2]横江恶。
一风三日[3]吹倒山，
白浪高于瓦官阁。
横江，即横江浦，在今安徽省马鞍山市和县东南，位于长江西北岸，与东南岸的采石矶相对，形势险要。前两句颇有民歌风味，“侬”为吴人自称，“人道”“我道”一抑一扬，为引出下文做好转折。后两句作者用一贯的夸张手法，极力状写横江“阴风怒号，浊浪排空”。这首诗主要是写横江的地势险峻，气候多变，诗人以想象丰富奇伟的笔触，创造出雄伟壮阔的境界。

The Crosswise River
(I)
They say the Crosswise River good;
I say the Crosswise River rude.
If winds should blow three days,
E’en hills would be blown down,
And waves rise higher than the Temple[1]in the town.

Hengjiang, namely Hengjiangpu, is located in the southeast of Hexian County, Ma’anshan City, Anhui Province, on the northwest bank of the Yangtze River, opposite to Caishiji on the southeast bank, and has a dangerous situation. The first two sentences have a folk song flavor. “Nong” is the self-proclaimed name of the Wu people, and “Ren Dao” and “Wo Dao” are alternately suppressed and raised, which is a good transition to the following text. In the last two sentences, the author uses the usual exaggeration method to describe Hengjiang as “the wind is howling and the turbid waves are empty”. This poem mainly describes the steep terrain and changeable climate of Hengjiang. The poet creates a magnificent realm with rich and magnificent imagination.
