Wu Han 武汉 is the capital of Hubei Province, the only sub-provincial city of the six central provinces, a megalopolis, the central city of central China, an important industrial base, scientific and educational base, and comprehensive transportation hub in China, and the headquarters of the joint logistic support force.
Wu Han is located in the east of the Jianghan Plain 江汉平原 and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River 长江. Jiangcheng is the largest transportation hub of land, water, and air in inland China and the shipping center of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Its high-speed rail network covers more than half of China and it is the only city in central China that can directly sail to five continents in the world.
