“Ruan Lang Gui Tianbian” is a work by Yan Jidao, a poet of the Northern Song Dynasty. This poem was written in Bianjing, during a banquet on the Double Ninth Festival. The poem laments about his life and expresses the author’s sad mood of being a stranger and missing his hometown. Although it expresses depression, it does not mean despair.
《阮郎归·天边》是北宋词人晏几道的作品。这首词写于汴京，是重阳佳节宴饮之作。词中感喟身世，抒发了作者客居思乡的悲凉心情。虽写抑郁之情，但并无绝望之意。

To old wantonness free rein I give.
Sadness I will change for drunkenness;
When I sing, let not sad songs
Lacerate my heart.
