“Ode to the Road” is a five-character ancient poem by Zou Hao, a poet of the Song Dynasty. It was written by the author on his way to exile in Lingnan. This poem expresses various associations about the road of life through the thinking of the road, and has profound meaning. The first sentence points out the theme of the red road and writes about the twists and turns of the road, which also reminds people of the dangerous environment along the way. The second sentence describes the length of the red road. The third and fourth sentences describe the twists and turns and ups and downs of the road. The last two sentences ask why we have to go up and down with this dragon-like red road. This question is not only a question to the treacherous and slanderous people in the court, but also a question to the author about the road of life. It also makes people question the road of life in combination with their own circumstances. It can be said that the words are simple but the meaning is deep, and the meaning is beyond the image. The poem uses the dragon and snake that are unknown how many thousands of feet long to compare the long journey and the road of exile that is circling up and down among thousands of mountains and rivers, which vividly expresses the author’s life path of ups and downs in his official career and ups and downs without shame.
《咏路》是宋代诗人邹浩的一首五言古诗，是作者在贬谪岭南的途中所作。这首咏物诗，借路的思索表现了对人生之路的多种联想，意蕴深广。首句点题写出了赤路的曲折蜿蜒也让人想到沿途环境的险恶。次句写赤路漫长。三四句写路的曲折和起伏。末两句发问为什么偏偏要随着这条龙蛇般的赤路俯仰上下，这一问既是对朝中权奸和谗人的责问，又是作者对人生道路的疑问，还让人结合自己的际遇拷问人生之路，真可谓言浅而意深，意余象外。诗中以不知几千丈长的龙蛇来比喻漫长的旅途和在千山万水之间盘旋上下的贬谪之路，形象地表现了作者上下仕途、俯仰无愧的人生之路。

A red soil path looks like a long dragon or snake,
It is unable to count the length of the snake.
It comes in or goes out of the hills or waters,
Now descending downwards, now ascending upwards.
Why you have to go the hot and wild way alone,
Sometimes bending, sometimes lifting, like a long snake?
