The poem ‘From the Lord’s Departure’ is a lyrical poem written by the author based on several lines from Chapter 3 of Xu Gan’s’ Thoughts on the Courtroom ‘about a woman’s longing for her daughter. Xu Shiyun once said, “Since the ruler’s departure, a clear mirror cannot govern in darkness. Thinking of the ruler is like flowing water, when will the time come?” This poem follows Xu’s poetry in both conception and metaphorical expression.
《自君之出矣》系作者仿徐干《室思》第三章有关闺妇相思数句而作的抒情小诗。徐诗云“自君之出矣，明镜暗不治。思君如流水，何时有已时。”本诗在构思立意、设喻抒情两方面均追步徐诗。
