
Pei Di was one of the main poets of the pastoral landscape poetry school in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. In his early years, he lived in seclusion in Zhongnan Mountain with Wang Wei, Cui Xingzong, and others, advocating for peace with each other. After Wang Wei obtained the Wangchuan Villa, Pei Di became a frequent guest on the seat. “The Wangshui River surrounds my house, and I don’t go up to the flower dock of Zhuzhou. I float back and forth with my Taoist friend Pei Di, playing the piano and composing poetry, and howling all day long” (from “Biography of Wang Wei” in the Old Book of Tang). The guests and hosts praised the twenty scenic spots of Wangchuan, each forming twenty quatrains. This is the famous “Wangchuan Collection”. Huazigang “is one of them. The whole poem takes returning home as the clue, and through the poet’s unique feelings about what he has seen and heard, presents readers with a vivid and dynamic artistic picture.
裴迪是盛唐田园山水诗派的主要诗人之一,早年与王维、崔兴宗等隐居终南山,互相倡和。后王维得辋川别墅,裴迪成为座上常客,“辋水周于舍下,别涨竹洲花坞,与道友裴迪浮舟往来,弹琴赋诗,啸咏终日”(《旧唐书·王维传》)。宾主咏辋川二十景,各成绝句二十首,这就是著名的《辋川集》。《华子冈》就是其中的一篇。全诗以还家为线索,通过诗人对所见所闻的独特感受,向读者展示了一幅有声有色、亦动亦静的艺术画面。

On dew-dried grasses treading.
