野老才三户，
边村少四邻。
婆娑依里社，
萧鼓赛田神；
洒酒浇刍狗，
焚香拜木人；
女巫纷屡舞，
罗袜自生尘。
On a Liangzhou Suburb
Three rustic houses make a village here,
Which stands alone in the wild. Before its shrine
Of a patron god are dancings, full of cheer,
With fluting, drumming, and thanks for a year so fine.
Libations are made for bliss, on dogs of straw,
And incense burnt to idols they adore.
The witches keep on swaying here and there,
Their dresses catching dust, but they don’t care.
