Buddhist Temple Above the Timberline: (Long and Narrow
Green Jade Table)

Above the timberline, one hundred feet over a Buddhist temple, rests cloud shields
Slowly comes the vast whiteness and endless roads.
Early frost on the plum and pear blossoms, broken sacrifices of the last lunar month
Silverish waves without a boundary.

White mountains for three thousand miles
The cold envelops the Jiangnan trees.
Crows cawing in the broken shadows, sky just before sunset
Soft crescent moon brings a soft light to the mists and fog.

Cultivated bamboo droops low, one solitary crane dances
Poplar blossoms play with the wind.
Sky filled with shortened goose feathers
Poets gather things that are both real and fantastic.

Notes:

Jiangnan: Literally means the southern part of the river. In this case, the river is the Changjiang, the region is southern Zhejiang Province, and the cities of Hangzhou, Suzhou, and others.
