Waves Dredging Sand: Poem No. 2

Lang Tao Sha

Hua wai dao jin qiao.
Yin san wu liao.
Rou sang bi ri liu mi tiao.
Ci di nian shi ceng yi zui
Huan shi chun zhao.

Jin ri ju qing rao.
Fan ying piao piao.
Chang ting hui shou ju ting yao.
Guo jin chang ting ren geng yuan
Te di hun xiao.

Waves Dredging Sand: Poem No. 2

Outside flowers wilted, golden hairpins drooping.
Drinking parties breakup, no more intrigue.
Soft mulberry trees cover the sun, willow trees without seeing twigs.
This season of the year, got drunk in this region
Experience again these spring dawns.

Today we begin to row our few oars.
Sailboat shadows flutter a little.
Stop at the ten-li pavilion, look back to the five-li one far away.
Passing by this ten-li pavilion the things of people more remote
Special spirit of this area slowly disappears.

Notes:

Ten-li pavilion: A li is one-half of a kilometer. Travelers in ancient China could use these pavilions as landmarks to help them navigate, and were used as rest stations.
