白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍山西太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑 。白居易是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易与元稹共同倡导新乐府运动，世称”元白”，与刘禹锡并称”刘白”。
Bai Juyi (772-846), courtesy name Letian, also known as Xiangshan Jushi and Zuiyin Xiansheng, was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. His ancestral home was moved to Xiagui during the time of his great-grandfather. He was born in Xinzheng, Henan Province. Bai Juyi was a great realist poet in the Tang Dynasty and one of the three great poets of the Tang Dynasty. Bai Juyi and Yuan Zhen jointly advocated the New Yuefu Movement, and were known as “Yuan Bai” in the world. Together with Liu Yuxi, they were also known as “Liu Bai”.

Leaving home and homeland, banished to some far-off place,
I wonder how it is I’m nearly free of grief and pain. Puzzled
and searching Chuang Tzu for insight on returning to dwell,
I realize it’s a place beyond questions: that’s our native land.
