Street Angel马路天使 ~ Chinese Movies&TV
Street Angel ( 马路天使; Mǎlù tiānshǐ) is a Chinese film released in 1937. The film was directed by Yuan Muzhi and stars the popular singer Zhou Xuan. This dark comedy—a still hilarious and irresistible love story—may not seem like a milestone, but “Street Angel” (《马路天使》 Mǎlù Tiānshǐ) was the first Chinese movie not about high society. For the first time, it gave voice to Shanghai’s laboring classes. It was produced in 1937, and tells the story of a pair of sisters, Little Yun and Little Hong, refugees from the Japanese invasion of Northern China, who’ve migrated to Shanghai to start life anew. The city doesn’t greet them well. To pay the rent, the older sister is forced into a life of prostitution. The younger sister, being groomed for the streets, reluctantly sings in a low-brow teahouse to the snickers of drunken, lecherous customers. We know—it doesn’t sound like much of a comedy. Through indomitable optimism and can-do spirit, they befriend a motley crew of misfits and social dregs—Little Chen the trumpeter, Old Wang the newspaper hawker, a street peddler, a barber and a dwarf—and strive together to fight for a better tomorrow. ?Shanghai, the city, swings along to the beat…- 0

The film was produced with the backing of the Communist Party, but in response to reactions outside Mainland China, Huang Jianxin, the film's co-director, "has said it was unfair to describe The Founding of a Republic as propaganda, since modern Chinese audience were too sophisticated to swallow a simplistic rendering of history." While the Taiwan government has asserted that it has no plans to actively censor the film, it has yet to be released because Taiwan's 2009 annual quota of 10 mainland films was already reached. The film retells the tale of the Communist ascendancy and triumph, and has a star-studded cast including Andy Lau, Ge You, Hu Jun, Leon Lai, Zhang Ziyi, Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Zhao Wei, and directors… -

Wu Xia – 武侠 – Chinese Movies
English name:Swordsmen Broadcast time:July 4, 2011 Starring:甄子丹(Donnie Yen)、金城武(Takeshi Kaneshiro)、汤唯(Tang Wei)、李小冉 director:陈可辛(Peter Chan) Introduction Today let's take a brief introduction of a famous Chinese movie named "Wu Xia".The film Wu Xia is a kung fu movie in terms of genre, yet it includes other elements like suspense, romance, violence, etc. While trying to tackle some thought-provoking themes in the film, Director Peter Chan also employs quite a few fashion elements closer to the taste of modern moviegoers, so Wu Xia has a distinctive style of its own, at least from the appearance. The veteran Hong Kong director fulfils his long-cherished hope on the big screen – restoring the living conditions of the ancient people: how they ate and worked, the adulthood ceremony, adding an adult into the pedigree, and even the ancient condom, all of which Peter Chan zealously explores in detail. The director discards the impressionistic style of imagination, and unfolds the pictures of the agrarian society in the early twentieth century with a simple and unsophisticated way. According to Peter Chan, the first half of the movie was inspired by Dr. House, which brings about suspense and scientific explanation of fundamentals of martial arts. The two scenes, Donnie Yen fighting with two thugs…- 0
