宿桐庐江寄广陵旧游
山 暝 闻 猿 愁
苍 江 急 亦 流。
风 鸣 两 岸 叶
月 照 一 孤 舟。
建 德 非 吾 土
维 扬 忆 旧 游。
还 将 两 行 泪
遥 寄 海 西 头。

Mountains at dusk, hear melancholy monkeys
Blue river, restless flows all night long.
Wind sounds through the leaves on both riverbanks
Moonlight shines on one solitary boat.
Jiande not my hometown area
Weiyang city, missing old friends.
Still both eyes shedding tears
They are in this distant western place.

Tonglu River: Short river that flows into Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Guangling: A county in Jiangsu Province.
Jiande: A city in western Zhejiang Province near the city of Hangzhou.
Weiyang: District of modern day Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. Located in the then ancient capital of Chang’an and a place for the Weiyang Palace to be built during the Han Dynasty.
