Bai Guang(白光 Bái Guāng) was born Shi Yongfen(史永芬 Shǐ Yǒngfēn) in Beiping, now Beijing, 1921, China. She was a famous movie star and singer. By the 1940s, she became one of the Seven great singing stars. Biography In her early years, Bai was a student of the Beiping Salon Theatrical Troupe(北平沙龙剧团 běipíng shālóng jùtuán), and once performed Cao Yu's(曹禺 Cáo Yú) play "Sunrise" (日出 rìchū). In 1937, she studied at the University of Tokyo's music department until World War II in 1942. After drama school, she wanted to be a movie star. As she proclaimed, she wanted to be like the beams of light coming off the movie projectors onto the big screen. Hence, her stage name was Bai Guang, which translated to "White Light". Career Her mandopop songs were often used in many of the movies as soundtracks. She had a slightly deep and hoarse voice, which helped her become a big star in Shanghai. Today, I will introduce a Chinese animated feature produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio which called Book Which Came from the Sky (天书奇谭tiān shū qí tán ). It is also referred to as "Legend of Sealed Book", "Tales about the Heavenly Book" and "Secrets of the Heavenly Book". So let us have a brief introduction. The film was produced with rigorous dubbing, fluid combination of music and vivid animations. The story is based on the classic literature Ping Yao Zhuan (平妖传Píng Yāo Zhuàn ) meaning "The Suppression of the Demons" authored by Feng Menglong (冯梦龙Féng Mènglóng ). Story Yuangong (袁公Yuán Gōng ), the deacon, opened the shrine and exposed the holy book to the human world. He also carved the contents of the book on the stone wall of white cloud cave in the mountains. He is now punished to guard the book for life by the jade emperor for breaking heaven's law and betraying the holy secret to human. In order to pass this holy book to human beings, he would have to get by the antagonist fox. The outstanding animation has received a variety of awards. It is really amazing.

Today, I will introduce a Chinese animated feature produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio which called The Monkey King Conquers the Demon (金猴降妖, Jīn Hóu Xiáng Yāo ).So let us have a brief introduction. The Monkey King Conquers the Demon is adapted from chapters of the Chinese classics Journey to the West (西游记, Xīyóujì). The five-episode animation series tells the story of Monkey King Sun Wukong (孙悟空, Sūn Wùkōng), who followed Monk Xuan Zang's (玄奘, Xuánzàng ) trip to the West to take the Buddhistic sutra. They met a white bone evil (白骨精, báigǔ jīng) and the evil transformed human appearances three times to Sūn Wùkōng seduce the monk. Twice Monkey King recognized it and brought it down. The monk was unable to recognize the monster and expelled Sun Wukong. Xuan Zang was then captured by the monster. Fortunately Bajie (八戒, bājiè ) , another apprentice of Xuan Zang, escaped and persuaded the Monkey King to come rescue the monk. Finally, Sun kills the evil and saves Xuan Zang. This film is acturally very famous. It has acheived many awards, for example, the 6th Hundred Flowers Festival Award and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival Award in 1989.

Today, I will introduce a Chinese animated feature produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio which called The Cowboy's Flute (牧童的笛子Mùtóng de Dízi). So let us have a brief introduction. The story is about a relationship between a young cow herding boy with an extraordinary flute playing ability. He is accompanied by his faithful water buffalo, and falls asleep in a tree. The first month of summer morning, in the south field, a naive lively shepherd boy rides the water buffalo to browse. The cow has suddenly been missing, originally the cow is drown on the waterfalls, which ignores the shepherd boy's call for back. Hearing the sound which is sent out by the windy bamboo, he has the comprehension, then truncates the bamboo into a flute, plays the melodious delightful music. By the attraction of the whistle sound, the water buffalo is back to the shepherd boy side. The shepherd boy riding the cow back is treading the twilight boundary ridge between fields, easily returns. The film did not contain any dialogues allowing it to be watched by any culture.
