袁术的死叫做罪有应得，当他要蜂蜜水而不能的时候，我不知道他是否想到他当假皇帝这几年，在他的统治之下，江淮人民过的是什么日子？根本就没有饭吃，卖儿卖女，甚至人吃人。而在这样的情况下他袁术依然是穷奢极欲，极度地奢靡，终于坐吃山空，吃得山穷水尽。当袁术在他自己的营帐里面、宫殿里面享受着山珍海味的时候，他们的士兵在吃河蚌，甚至连河蚌都吃不上。这样的人不灭亡，那才叫做天理不容。当然了，从政治学的角度讲，袁术做的最愚蠢的事情是在天下大乱，群雄并起，大家都想当皇帝而大家都不敢说出口的时候，他挑了这个头。谁都知道，枪打出头鸟，出头的椽子先烂。袁绍就比他聪明一点，袁绍也是想当皇帝的，但是他知道在这个关头是不能出这个头的，因此他才想出那个馊主意来我假模假式地另立一个，时机成熟我再取而代之，这个做法虽然被袁术看不起，被袁术认为没出息，但是实际上在策略上还是比袁术要高明一些。

Everyone knows that when a gun strikes a bird, the rafter that emerges rots first. Yuan Shao is a bit smarter than him. Yuan Shao also wanted to be an emperor, but he knew that he couldn’t make it at this juncture. Therefore, he came up with that bad idea. I pretended to establish another one, and when the time was ripe, I would replace it. Although this approach was despised by Yuan Shu and considered unproductive by Yuan Shu, it was actually a bit smarter in strategy than Yuan Shu.
曹操心里就更加地透亮，这个时代的曹操，我个人认为还是没有当皇帝的心思的，他还是想拥护现任皇帝，借现任皇帝的旗号来统一中国。但是到了后期，我个人认为曹操肯定也有了这个心思。而且到了曹操的晚年他已经有了这个条件，汉献帝给了他最高的待遇，封王爵，使用天子仪仗，自己有自己的王国、有国都、有相国、有自己的政府，什么都有了。而且当时所谓大汉王朝的政权完全是掌握在他手上，就是他已有皇帝之实，只欠皇帝之名，在这个情况下曹操都不出来称帝。当时孙权给曹操写了一封信叫做“劝进表”，劝曹操上皇帝尊号，曹操怎么说？这小子，他是想把我放在火上烤。所以曹操是最明白的，袁术不明白这个道理，袁术以为皇帝的称号就像现在我们市场经济条件下面的商标一样，要抢先注册，他以为他抢先注册了皇帝的商标别人就不能把他怎么的了，没想到他反而成了“众矢之的”。

So Cao Cao was the most aware, and Yuan Shu did not understand this truth. Yuan Shu believed that the title of the emperor was like a trademark under the current market economy conditions, and he needed to register it first. He thought that if he had registered the emperor’s trademark first, others could not do anything about him. Unexpectedly, he had instead become a target of criticism.
